Moor to Coast

Possibly Anemone cup [Dumontinia tuberosa]

The emphasis is on the possibly because this is quite a rare species. We found it in the South Hams on river gravel. Wood anemones were growing in close proximity and I am guessing celandines are probably prevalent in the same area. This species of cup fungi attaches itself to the tubers of these flowers. Perhaps there are tubers underneath the gravel but we did not wish to disturb this specimen. It was only about 1cm in height and looked quite delicate.
