Arion ater agg. black form

Dartmoor National Park. [28/6/2009]

Brown-lipped Snail [Cepaea nemoralis]

The shells of this species (also known as the Banded Snail) are highly variable. The dark body of this specimen is unusual but we have seen quite a few on our travels. This specimen was found near Buckfastleigh in Devon. [08/06/2009]

Garden Snail [Cornu aspersum]

Front garden 21/06/2009

For a few glorious moments the snails in the top picture were more interested in each other than the lettuce leaf put out to entice them. Sometimes watching snails, it seems they use their tentacles like rudders.

White-lipped Snail [Cepaea hortensis]

found resting on pennywort leaves near Galmpton (Brixham) in Devon. [31/05/2009]
