Rutpela maculata

This beetle species was seen near Kingswear in Devon. [19/7/2009]

 

The larvae of the Seven Spot Ladybird [Coccinella septempunctata] are very similar to the larvae of the Harlequin Ladybird (a highly invasive species in the UK.) Great care should be taken when distinguishing between them. This one was found near Berry Head in Brixham. [09/06/2009]

This was found on the same day as the larvae above.

 

 

Female Swollen-thighed beetles [Oedenera nobilis] have considerably leaber legs than the males (see below). Both male and female were found in the same area just outside Berry Head Country Park in Brixham. [9/6/2009]
