Garden Spider [Araneus diadematus]

Seen near Dittisham in Devon. [23/8/2009]

This species of spider [Misumena vatia] was well-camouflaged within this white flower. This species is chameleon-like by being able to change colour to blend in with its surroundings. Sherry took a number of shots while the spider approached, waving its legs if she got too close. It looked like it packed a mean right hook! We found this one near Berry Head in Brixham. [09/06/2009]
